Benefits of remote work for organizations and workers
New labor flexibility policies such as remote work are increasingly emerging. The 21st century has brought with it the rise of collaborative software and different technological tools, as well as the decentralization of tasks. This is why both companies and their collaborators, whose activities are adapted to this modality, are opting for this alternative that has been generating good results outside the office.
According to a study conducted by Microsoft, in which 3,600 employees from 36 cities around the world participated. Forty-one percent of the workers interviewed said they were satisfied with remote work and another 15% considered that this type of work method is positive and would like to see it incorporated into their company.
In this regard, we discuss the main benefits of remote work for both organizations and workers:
Time savings
Commuting from home to the workplace and vice versa causes people to lose hours that could be spent exercising, sleeping a little longer, attending to household chores, etc.
Improved quality of life
Workers appreciate having policies that allow them to sometimes work remotely because they can consistently implement healthy habits, such as eating healthier. For practicality’s sake, many employees still tend to buy ready-made food, opting for fast food. This is why remote work allows people to follow a stricter diet.
Cost savings
Public transportation fares, gasoline, meals away from home, and a long list of small expenses that a worker incurs on a daily basis. All of these can be reduced by opting for alternatives such as remote work. On the other hand, it is estimated that with this modality a company can reduce its general expenses by 30% per year, since it saves on energy, telephony, Internet connections, office supplies, among others.
It reduces pollution and improves the environment.
Remote work is environmentally friendly. A significant percentage of employees drive their own vehicles to get to work every day. This produces pollution that ends up taking its toll on our environment and ourselves.
